During the press tour for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. sat down with ABC to talk about his new role, how he's adjusting to it, and what inspires his take on the unique bond with Peter (via Cinema Blend). "I just keep thinking it's about when your 16-year-old says, 'Well I have a license now I can drive,' and you want to put a tracker in their car and you want to be able to deactivate it" According to Homecoming director Tom Watts."He was always a part of it," Watts told Den of Geek. "That was always a big part, the idea of him being this reluctant mentor ? or the unintentional mentor ? to Peter. Like, just sort of the grand ambition to be like that someday."
