VIDEO : 'Despicable Me 3's Box Office Draw Underwhelming, But Still Worth Celebrating

"Despicable Me 3" cleaned up at the box office over the weekend, as analysts estimate the Universal Pictures and Illumination's vehicle took in $75.4 million. The animated film features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristin Wiig and Trey Parker. According to Access Hollywood, it easily topped the holiday weekend charts from over 4,500 theaters in North America. It's a far cry from "Minions'" $115 million launch in 2015, and also lower than "Despicable Me 2," which opened to $83.5 million in 2013. Still, Universal executives say that $75 million is a number they'll celebrate any day of the week.
