When he was young, John Legend was a spelling bee champion. The Springfield News-Sun recently went into their archives and found an article from when the famous R&B singer had won the District Spelling Bee in 1989 at age 10 in Ohio. The paper noted that Legend was dressed in a suit and tie and won after spelling "prejudice" correctly. The article also wrote that the singer was home schooled by his mother. Legend bragged about his big win on Twitter last December, writing: "Third grade spelling bee champ and English major here."
