Despite a strong performance overseas, "The Mummy," starring Tom Cruise, is expected to suffer a tremendous financial loss. "The Mummy" was poorly received by American audiences, earning only $57 million so far in the two weeks it's been in US theaters. It doesn't help that the film was ripped to shreds by critics, leading it to score a dismal 16 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. At this time, the film is expected to lose Universal studios an estimated $95 million.
