HBO Europe has picked up L.M. Montgomery?s Anne of Green Gables TV movie, a reboot of the classic Canadian kids novel about the spunky, red-haired orphan Anne Shirley. The West Wing star Martin Sheen stars in the TV movies from Breakthrough Entertainment now set to air in 14 markets in Central Europe. The first installment of a trilogy, which also stars Ella Ballentine as Anne Shirley and Sara Botsford as Marilla Cuthbert, had earlier runs on PBS in the U.S. The novel Anne of Green Gables has sold 50 million copies worldwide. Netflix has its own reboot of the beloved series, Anne, from Emmy-winning writer Moira Walley-Beckett, with Amybeth McNulty in the title role.
