In "Meagan Leavey' Kata Mara plays the real-life war hero who was injured by an explosive device and works to adopt her canine partner Rex. For the role Mara had to form a strong bond with her canine co-star which she said she felt "pressure" about and kept her "honest and vulnerable as an actor." While Mara said this wasn't her first time playing a real-life person, she said playing Meagen Leavey was a "real dream come true."
