VIDEO : Cancel Your Weekend Plans For 'Jessica Jones' Season 2

Celebrity in this news:

Once Jessica Jones season 2 drops, Krysten Ritter warns everyone to cancel their weekend plans because you will not be able to stop watching it until the very end. The actor is scheduled to take part in the upcoming ensemble series The Defenders first coming this August, but what happens to her character after meeting and working with the rest of New York?s superheroes seems to get Ritter pumped up for a return to her standalone series.
Right now, information regarding Jessica Jones season 2 is still scarce but filming is ongoing in New York. Last week, set photos emerged online showing Jones and Trish (Rachel Taylor) having a run-in with the police. The image does not give much away, but it resonates with previous comments from showrunner Melissa Rosenberg saying that she wants to explore the relationship between the two women further. The world of the Jones is also expected to be expanded to the point that side characters can carry their own story threads.
Despite not having a concrete synopsis yet, Ritter teases fans about the need to binge Jessica Jones season 2. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Ritter highly recommends devoting a weekend off to watch the show in one sitting instead of savoring it one episode at a time.
?I feel like it?s a binge show big time. This season maybe even more so than last. Even as I?m getting the episodes and reading them on the page, they ramp up so much at the end that it?s kinda hard to not want to just dive into the next one! So maybe try and savor it, but be prepared to cancel your weekend plans??
Hopefully, Ritter?s comments mean that the next season of Jessica Jones will do away with the slow middle sections that have plagued many Marvel Netflix series. Despite Kilgrave?s (David Tennant) demise last season, it is no secret that Jones bears an emotional scar from her encounters with him. And while he is no longer a physical threat, a lingering psychological presence could still be a huge factor. Season 2 may also attempt to ground its storyline in a more emotional place, in an effort to contrast it with the action-packed narrative of The Defenders.
Unfortunately, it does not seem like Marvel TV or Netflix will be releasing significant details about the show until The Defenders is already out. This could be because Jessica Jones season 2 follows up on important plot points that are still bound to happen in the four-way crossover series.
It is a good thing the whole new season of Jessica Jones will drop at once, instead of the usual TV format of a week-to-week episode release. However, by the looks of it, Jessica Jones won?t hit the streaming service until at least early 2018, thanks to an already full 2017 lineup for Marvel TV. The Defenders is coming out this summer and Jon Bernthal?s The Punisher will be dropping this November.
