Director Mamoru Hosoda has been behind films like The Boy and The Beast, Wolf Children, and The Girl Who Lept Through Time. He will now be releasing a new film in 2018. The film is to be debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and currently has the title of Mirai. Mirai ? which means ?future? in Japanese - will be a fantasy based family drama centered around a four-year old boy. While the boy struggles to accept his new baby sister, he stumbles into a time-traveling portal in his yard. He travels to when his mother was a young girl, and learns to appreciate his new sister.
