James Gunn is in a unique position when it comes to filmmakers working with Marvel Studios. Introducing his own take on the Guardians of the Galaxy didn?t require any lead-ins or connections to previous or upcoming films, and the cosmic setting allows for almost unlimited potential. Gunn also has a very personal connection to Guardians. He tells ScreenRant, "I grew up in a household with six kids born within seven years, so my family is very much like the Guardians of the Galaxy in terms of how much we argued and bickered, but also loved each other."
