Guy Ritchie directed 'King Arthur: Legend of the Sword' because the film is "exotic". Ritchie admitted making the fantasy epic is radically different from any of his previous work. He relished the chance to challenge himself with something new. While he admitted that "fantasy is completely out of my wheelhouse" he also disclosed that he longed to do something different. King Arthur "felt exotic." For Ritchie, it was all about the challenge and working outside of your comfort zone.
