Actor Orlando Bloom has backtracked from comments he made on a British morning radio show this week. The comments sparked outrage and accusations of racism over in the U.K. The remarks were made while Bloom Was promoting ?Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar?s Revenge.? Bloom told BBC Radio 1 ?Breakfast Show? host Nick Grimshaw: ?I?m still a pikey from Kent, boy, I?m still a pikey from Kent. Listeners quickly took to Twitter to brand Bloom a racist. The term ?pikey" is slang for a traveler or gypsy. Bloom's use of the phrase caused ripples of offense as it is considered by many to be an ethnic slur. Bloom later issued an apology for the remark.
