VIDEO : Why Don't Marvel Movies Overlap Anymore?

During the early days of the Marvel cinematic universe Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor overlapped. Marvel's fils were all set around the same time, and contain plot points that directly inform each other. Since the conclusion of the first Avengers film and Phase 1, however, the MCU hasn?t really utilized this storytelling device anymore. Instead the movies follow a more chronological layout. Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel, spoke to Cinema Blend and addressed the problem with trying to overlap MCU films in the current Phase. For Feige, it boils down to him not allowing the bigger picture to impact standalone films. In fact, Feige believes when the stories of standalone Marvel films change, it impacts the big picture of the MCU.
