Although Ian McKellen has already brought one wizard to life on the big screen, he also had the opportunity to star as another beloved wizard -- Albus Dumbledore. When actor Richard Harris, who originated the role in the first two Harry Potter films, passed away after a battle with Hodgkin's disease in 2002, McKellen was approached about taking on the role. In McKellen's words from a recent interview, he said, "I couldn't take over the part from an actor who I'd known didn't approve of me.
