Oliver Stone says that NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden was "amazed" by his film 'Snowden,' even telling him that it was as "close to reality as a film can get." Stone felt it was necessary to tell the real-life story of former CIA employee Snowden who leaked NSA documents to the press in 2013. Stone told Metro news that the film is Snowden's story, "his way of seeing events, which is a different point of view from the NSA, which of course ridiculed us.
