According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Michael Shannon is the frontrunner to play the role of Cable in 'Deadpool 2'. However, the report adds that Shannon hasn?t exactly been cast and may not be able to do it even if he wants to. The Oscar nominee is set to filming the Indie flick 'What They Had' in the spring while Deadpool 2 is slated to shoot over the summer in Vancouver. If Shannon is unable to do the film, other actors such as 'Friday Night Lights' star Kyle Chandler and 'Stranger Things' actor David Harbour have been rumored to play the time-traveling mutant.
