Pop singer Katy Perry attended the Human Rights Campaign Gala in Los Angeles. At the event, Perry was honored with the gay rights lobbying group's National Equality Award. She commented on her experience, and said: "I speak my truths and I paint my fantasies into these little bite size pop songs." She referenced her breakout song "I Kissed A Girl" and told the crowd that she honestly did more than that, and learned early on that sexuality isn't black and white. Perry added that she's glad her hit 2008 song about kissing a girl started conversations in the general public.
