In the new Beauty and the Beast live-action remake, Luke Evans' plays the evil Gaston.
Evans wanted to take the character in a whole new direction.
He wanted Gaston to be a good guy, beloved by the audience when they first meet him.
The actor felt that Gaston would make a better bad guy in the end if he came off as an admired hero in the beginning of the movie.
