According to director James Cameron, Avatar's sequel is on hiatus once again.
The film maker recently spoke with the Toronto Star, and indicated that the sci-fi sequel, Avatar 2 will not release in 2018.
The sequel was recently scheduled for release on Dec. 21st, 2018 by 20th Century Fox.
That means Avatar's sequel will hit theaters at least a decade after the first film, which released in 2009.
Cameron and his production have been working on the next four Avatar films simultaneously, which the director called an epic undertaking.
Although the scripts are prepared, the projects are all in pre-production work.
