On Wednesday, actor Samuel L. Jackson said he wasn't trying to slam black British actors when he criticized their casting in American films such as the horror hit "Get Out". The original, controversial comments came Monday, when Jackson was promoting 'Kong: Skull Island' on New York radio station Hot 97. At the time Jackson wondered what 'Get Out' would have been like with a black American actor who grew up in America's racial divide. Jackson told The Associated Press that his comments weren't necessarily misunderstood, but that his criticism was not of the performers but instead of the system that allows black actors from overseas take prominent roles in American films. Jackson said "It was not a slam against them, but it was just a comment about how Hollywood works in an interesting sort of way sometimes."
