HBO is adapting Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects and Emmy-winning actress Patricia Clarkson has been cast in a starring role. The eight-episode drama is based on Flynn's 2006 book which centers on reporter Camille Preaker, who will be played by Amy Adams. Camille is "fresh from a brief stay at a psychiatric hospital" when she returns to her hometown "to cover the murders of two preteen girls." Clarkson will play Camille's mother, Adora Crellin.
