According to Variety on Thursday, actor Alexander Siddig has been cast to play legendary Batman villain R'as Al Ghul on the FOX show 'Gotham'. In the program, Al Ghul will lead the villainous League of Shadows like in the Christopher Nolan movies. Sidding, who is of Sudanese descent, will be the first actor of Middle Eastern heritage to play the villain on screen. In the comics, even though the character is from the Arabian Peninsula, previous actors who have played Al Ghul, Liam Neeson and Matt Noble, have both been white.
