Oprah Winfrey stars in a new movie, premiering on HBO in the US in April titled, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The film is based on the book of the same name written by Rebecca Skloot. Skloot tells the story of Henrietta Lacks who in 1952 had cervical cancer and had a biopsy done. Doctors discovered that her cells could multiply and never die naming them HeLa cells which were eventually used in ground breaking medical research. Henrietta's family did not learn about the use of her cells for some time. Winfrey will play Henrietta's daughter Deborah who pieces together her mother's history and fights for her to be recognised.
