The 62-year-old talk show legend is in talks for a role in the new version of the classic tear-jerker with the filmmaker who directed her in the 2013 biopic 'The Butler'. If she takes on the role, Winfrey will play the part of the difficult mother and widow Aurora Greenway, originally brought to life by Shirley MacLaine in 1983. Based on Larry McMurtry's novel of the same name, the drama was directed by James L. Brooks and also starred Deborah Winger as Aurora's daughter Emma and Jeff Daniels as the teacher Flap Horton who Emma marries against her mother's wishes.
