The movie adaptation of Stephen King?s The Dark Tower has certainly been a long time coming. Hit by a series of delays, Sony Pictures eventually picked up and made the movie; with Nikolaj Arcel as director, The Dark Tower draws from all of Stephen King?s books within the series, and stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain AKA The Gunslinger, and Matthew McConaughey as Walter, The Man in Black. The movie was originally set for release this February, but was delayed to summer in order to finish post-production without rushing. Thus far, we have yet to see any footage from the movie.
The Dark Tower is still happening, though, which will come as a relief to fans who have been waiting so long to see King?s epic series of novels realized on the big screen. Primarily, the movie will focus on the events of the first novel, titled ?The Gunslinger?, where Roland, the last remaining Gunslinger, travels across barren desert in his world in order to fulfill his quest, which is to reach the Dark Tower. He is constantly pursued and mentally tormented by The Man in Black, and when Roland meets young Jake Chambers, a boy who has died in our world but is now alive in his, the quest takes a darker turn.
