How did Octavia Spencer prepare for her role in the period drama 'Hidden Figures'? She immersed herself in sixties culture and history.
The movie is about three African American female mathematicians who helped NASA launch John Glenn into space.
Describing her process, Spencer said "I listen to music of the time and I only deal with family and friends that are on the film; I don't go to the movies"
"I don't do anything that's contemporary. I tend to isolate. I only come out of it when it's time for me to wrap."
