Pop star Mariah Carey made headlines after her live performance on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest". In the face of technical difficulties, Carey struggled to get through a much-hyped set. She has since broken her silence, and released a statement about the event. Carey said: "I?m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time." She added: "It?s not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future. But it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team." After the performance, Carey's manager suggested that the network's decision to air the performance at a later time on the West Coast was "in a way sabotaging, as they wanted a viral moment."
