Late actor and comedian, Robin Williams, was apparently turned down for the role of Hagrid in the Harry Potter films. It is said that the star begged the director of the franchise, Chris Columbus, to cast him on for the part, but the director rejected his pleas. The casting director for the Harry Potter films, Janet Hirshenson told The Huffington Post: "Robin had called [Columbus] because he really wanted to be int he movie, but it was a British-only edict."
