Dick Clark Productions, the company behind Dick Clark's Rocking New Years Eve, is hitting back against Mariah Carey's assertion that it sabotaged her live performance on its "New Year's Rockin' Eve" special. A representative for Carey, Nicole Perna, blamed Carey's disastrous performance on technical difficulties. In an interview with Billboard Perna said Dick Clark Productions hampered Carey's performance. She told Billboard "She was not winging this moment and took it very seriously. A shame the production set her up to fail." Dick Clark Production released said in a statement "any suggestion the dick clark Productions .... would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd."
