Actress Lily Collins was desperate to land a part in the first movie Warren Beatty directed since 1998. The movie is "Rules Don't Apply' and Collins was afraid to ask if she had been cast in it. Collins said "I never knew and I never wanted to ask. It's the kind of movie where it was never gonna be real until we're shooting, and even when we were shooting we were like, 'Is this really happening?'" Collins said the audition process was not a traditional line reading.
