Dev Patel, the star of the drama Lion, "cried" when he got the script for the movie. The film is based on the real life story of a young Indian boy who is accidentally separated from his brother and mother after he ends up 1,000 miles away from his home in a Calcutta train station. He's adopted by a Tanzania couple who raise him as their own. Patel said he was determined to do the movie justice because he was so moved by the story. Patel said "I was crying when I read the script and I haven't done that before ever while I was reading something. You want to do justice to such a beautiful piece of work."
