Bobby Kennedy III is set to direct the movie "Freak Power", a movie that will be filmed next summer about journalist Hunter S. Thompson. The movie tells the story of Thompson's unsuccessful campaign in 1970 to become sheriff of Colorado's Pitkin County. Thompson died in 2005 in Woody Creek, Colorado. The Durango Herald reports that five hotels in southwest Colorado are being considered for the movie.
Stephani Burditt of Colorado's southwestern economic development district says the movie's production team wants to mimic the look of Hotel Jerome in Aspen as in the 1970s.
