Portman said it felt "very daunting" to portray someone so iconic. She said she watched hours of footage to perfect Jackie's mannerisms and voice, but she said she was also given the freedom to explore what Jackie may have been like outside of the public eye. Portman said she has "great respect" for Jackie and hopes that the respect comes through in the film.
