Comedian Margaret Cho revealed on Wednesday that Tilda Swinton reached out to her "about the controversy surrounding her playing a gender-and-race-swapped version of The Ancient One" in Marvel's Doctor Strange. In the comic books, Swinton's character is a Tibetan Buddhist Lama. Cho described their conversations as very "weird," saying that Swinton "said that she didn't understand why people were so mad about Doctor Strange and she wanted to talk about it, and wanted to get my take on why all the Asian people were mad." Cho said the experience left her feeling "very uncomfortable" and like a "house Asian."
