Actress Rachel Weisz is taking on a challenging new role. In her new film, Weisz gender-fluid Victorian doctor James Barry. According to 'Deadline' the as-yet-untitled film will chronicle Barry's rise to prominence as a surgeon, and her groundbreaking progress as a champion of medical rights for the lower classes. Barry's true identity was only discovered after her death from dysentry in 1865. The upcoming film be based on book, The Secret Life of Dr James Miranda Barry: Victorian England's Most Eminent Surgeon. According to Elle magazine, many speculate that a key part of the story will be focused on Barry's controversial relationship with Governor Lord Charles Somerset.
