VIDEO : Katie Holmes Directorial Debut 'All We Had' Gets Dinged By The Wrap

Celebrity in this news:

Katie Holmes' directorial debut, All We Had hits theaters on December 9th, but SFGate's film division, The Wrap, is none too impressed with the "Dawson's Creek" alum's effort.
Tricia Olszewski called the film "unremarkable" film "riddled with cliches" that "takes some shortcuts".
All We Had is adapted from Annie Weatherwax's novel, and tells the story of world-weary single mother, Rita (played by Holmes) who lives out of her car with her daughter, Ruthie. Stefania Owen plays Ruthie, the narrator of the story.
Olszewski says the film suffers from bad writing, with every turn of the plot happening a little too conveniently, and sometimes unnecessarily. In spite of that, she concedes the performances from Holmes and Owen are "serviceable".
