Jennifer Hudson easily provided some of Hairspray Live!'s most powerful vocals and poignant political commentary on Wednesday's event. Although she didn't make her first appearance as Motormouth Maybelle until the second half of the show, her solo "I Know Where I've Been" stole the show. Hairspray takes place in 1962, in a segregated Baltimore, where Maybelle helps lead protests for racial equality. The lyrics she sings to rally her fellow protesters are powerful.
