Martin Scorsese has come a long way in his career. Now a renowned director, the artist once feared for his life due to an abuse of drugs and a serious fight with asthma. When he made it out of those dark times, he could attribute a large part of his survival to prayer. "I felt [if I was saved] it was for some reason. And even if it wasn't for a reason, I had to make good use of it," Scorsese says. Now, fifty years later he is revisiting that spiritual realm with his new film 'Silence' that follows two Jesuit priests who travel to Japan and are persecuted for their beliefs.
