The Sony Pictures Classics preview shows the star delivering punchlines at a wedding, a senior center and New York City's Comedy Cellar. Robert De Niro is struggling to stay funny in the trailer for The Comedian. Directed by Taylor Hackford, the film sees De Niro playing an aging comic icon who, despite efforts to reinvent himself, is stuck in the public's imagination as the TV character that made him famous years earlier.
