Taraji P. Henson says the movie, Hidden Figures, "is about humanity, humans coming together, focusing on one goal." The actress said her character's love of numbers is comparable to her own love of acting. Henson said "It's hard," for minorities working in the entertainment industry adding, "I've have white friends, blonde hair, blue eyes that ain't worked in five years." The Oscar nominated actress went on to say, "Have we seen enough representation of African American stories? No. But has Hollywood been horrible to me? No."
