Robocop director Paul Verhoeven's latest film, Elle, stars French actress Isabelle Huppert as "the survivor of a sexual assault who makes unpredictable choices" in her efforts to hunt down her rapist. The film focuses on Huppert's character, who is a successful executive of a gaming company and in keeping with Verhoeven's filmmaking style, there are many uncomfortable and provocative scenes. The layered film has been described as "deeply disturbing" as it constantly plays with "the line between empathy and voyeurism."
