An auction of David Bowie?s massive art collection began on Friday in London, and first day sales expectations were shattered through the roof. According to Rolling Stone, the auction raised more than $30 million in its first day, tripling pre-auction estimates. Bowie, who died in January from liver cancer, was an avid collector of modern art for most of his life. The auction features nearly 350 artworks including pieces by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Frank Auerbach, and Damien Hirst.
