According to organizers on Friday, actor Casey Affleck will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the 2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival in January. The younger brother of Ben Affleck was chosen for the award for his performance in Kenneth Lonergan?s movie ?Manchester by the Sea,? where he plays a janitor trying to take care of his nephew, but is also haunted by a tragedy in his past. The award will be presented to Affleck at the festival?s annual Awards Gala on January 2 at the Palm Springs Convention Center in California.
