Wearing a sweater with the word "Love" on it, Ellen DeGeneres gave the American people a hopeful message. She taped the monologue Tuesday afternoon, in case Donald Trump won the presidency, "which ended up happening hours later." She wanted to give a message of hope and optimism, choosing "to see the best in America and the people who live here." She said, "I believe we can all come together because if you take away the labels, you realize we're far more alike than we are different." She also tried to keep it light and filled her message with jokes, saying, "It doesn't matter if you're a liberal or if you're conservative, we've all passed out watching Netflix and woke up not knowing what episode we're on, what season we're on, whose couch we're on."
