Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens is set to portray author Charles Dickens in The Man Who Invented Christmas. Based on a book of the same name by Les Standiford, and adapted for the screen by Mozart in the Jungle writer Susan Coyne, The Man Who Invented Christmas follows the acclaimed author during the six weeks in 1843 when he created his classic holiday story, A Christmas Carol. Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer will portray the film's "Scrooge" character, while Jonathan Pryce will play Dickens' father.
