The year has not been kind to the Indie film market. According to The Hollywood reporter, several major flops have led to big deficits in U.S. distributor budgets and shakey foreign investment. "They are buying fewer movies because there's less of a safety net now when a film doesn't work," says IM Global CEO Stuart Ford. The superhero trend has also sucked a lot of talent from the indie market. With so much uneasiness, star power is important in indie films today.
