At a recent conference, Tina Fey talked discussed her upcoming project: the "Mean Girls" musical. The film debuted back in 2007, and Fey was the executive producer and screenwriter. A musical adaptation has been in the works for some time, and a source recently shared that it will open in Washington, DC in the Fall of 2017. At a conference held by the Producers Guild of America, Fey said that there is a "secret director" on the project, and that Nell Benjamin is writing the lyrics for the music. Currently, the musical does not plan to head to Broadway, but Fey joked that it would go whenever 'Hamilton' closed.
