The comedian took his own life in late summer of 2014, after suffering from dementia caused by Lewy body disease, which was diagnosed after his death. In an article published in the medical journal, "Neurology," Williams' widow comments that his death came "at the end of an intense, confusing, and relatively swift persecution" as a result of the disease.
