VIDEO : Margot Robbie Fact Checks Jared Leto On SNL

When Saturday Night Live returned yesterday, the iconic late-night series raked in seriously impressive ratings. The show had its highest season premiere rating since 2008, and it wasn?t scared to tackle topics like the current presidential election. Margot Robbie hosted the debut episode of Season 42, and the Australian swore she would fact-check everything she said in her opening monologue.
So, naturally, she needed to call Jared Leto out.
The actress started off her entrance with traditional thanks before saying she was excited to be in American for the election. ?I mean, this is how you guys really do it,? Robbie said. ?It?s nuts! I mean everybody just lies. It?s crazy. Which is why tonight I am going to be 100 percent honest with you. And just in case I ever do lie, I will be fact-checking my own monologue. But don?t worry. I never lie.?
However, the actress then immediately faced another camera and admitted she actually ?lie[s] all the time.?
Robbie continued and casually brought up her work on Suicide Squad. The blockbuster premiered back in August to huge success despite negative reviews, and the actress gushed about the film. And, of course, she mentioned her on-screen partner Jared Leto who played The Joker.
? Jared Leto stayed in character like the whole time, which was so, so fun,? Robbie explained. But, then, she fact-checking herself and said it was ?not fun. It was kind of uncomfortable.?
If you?re not familiar with Robbie?s complaint, then you should know that Jared Leto took his role as The Joker very seriously. The actor, who has said he fell for the Clown Prince of Crime, refused to break character on set and treated his co-stars rather strangely. Leto has famously admitted he sent cast members gifts like live rats, Playboy magazines, and even bullets. The actor also included a handwritten poem with each of the gifts, something allowed him to delve deeper into The Joker?s crazed thoughts.
It?s easy to see why Robbie may have found that uncomfortable at times.
In recent interviews, Leto revealed his reasoning behind the gift-giving and said it was all for research. He said, ?It was interesting to do because The Joker loves to play games, loves to manipulate, and it was part of the reason to [give the gifts].?
The actor continued saying, ?When you give a gift to someone in real life, you think about what do I get them. You think about who that person is to you, what would they like. So that immediately started to be really good homework for me. What do I give Deadshot? What is my relationship with Deadshot? What?s our history? Down the line, with every character, you start to think about what would I get them? I gave Deadshot a briefcase full of bullets. It was kind of a message, kind of a threat. It was kind of a reminder.?
Of course, none of Robbie?s co-stars on SNL opted to give the actress anything too creepy. She had great chemistry with the show?s comedy line-up, leaving her to play a sexy librarian in one skit while another had her breaking character because of Kate McKinnon.
