On Friday it was announced that in Season 2 of WGN America?s pre-Civil War drama, Underground, singer John Legend will portray influential 19th-century abolitionist Frederick Douglass. The show, which Legend also executive produces, follows an unremitting struggle for freedom within a divided America on the brink of civil war. Season 2 of the show will debut sometime early next year on WGN America. In addition to playing Douglass, Legend will also co-star in and executive produce the upcoming movie La La Land.
