When Cumberbatch spoke with pal Tom Hiddleston for the latest issue of Interview magazine, he outright refused to bring up Taylor Swift ? or even mention her by name ? when conducting the interview. Giving perhaps one of the classiest explanations of all time, he reasoned that no one has the right to know the inner workings of a celebrity?s private life simply because their ?work is very public.?
?And, without getting into a huge debate, I just want to say that I?m not going to ask questions about my friend?s personal life just because there are unsolicited photographs of him and a certain someone, in a relationship or together,? he said. ?I?m not going to get into that. So that door is closed, dear reader.?
After Hiddleston chuckled and thanked him for not asking about Swift, Cumberbatch added, ?You?re welcome. I know you?d do the same for me.?
Word of Hiddleston?s relationship with Swift first surfaced when the two of them were photographed kissing on the beach by the ?Bad Blood? singer?s Rhode Island compound. After a whirlwind three-month romance that took the two to three different continents, four different countries, and three different states, Hiddleston and Swift broke things off in early September.
When asked about if he was friendly with his ex at this year?s Emmy Awards, Hiddleston, who was spotted flirting with Quantico?s Priyanka Chopra that night, simply replied, ?Yes. Yes, we are.?
